I work for a company with a matching gifts program. What do I do?
Matching gifts are a quick, easy way to meet your fundraising goal. Remind your donors to find out if their company has a matching gift program and check with your own employer’s human resources department. Matching gifts can double or even triple your gift to Massey. You also check to see if employers have a matching gifts program by checking the VCU
matching gifts database. Many companies now allow their employees to submit their matching gifts online.

Are there any policies around using Massey's logo and name?
Any use of VCU Massey Cancer Center’s name and/or logo must have approval from Massey and comply with Massey’s brand standards.

Can I make a donation to a team?
Yes. You can make a donation to a fundraiser on a team or you can make a general team donation.

How do I find a participant's personal fundraising webpage?
Click on the home page and begin typing the first or last name. Your options will display as you type.
How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant's fundraising account?
Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please
contact us. *You may enter gifts made via cash or check online. Please note, offline gifts can take up to 10 business days to show in your online total.
What happens if I check the checkbox to "cover processing fees"?
If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to the non-profit. However, on the fundraising page, your intended - initial donation amount will be displayed.
What processing fees are associated with my donation?
In total, 7% in fees are paid on every donation. This total includes a fee for this fundraising software, VCU’s credit card processing fee and a general VCU gift fee that supports centralized development services. While we understand fees are no one’s favorite thing, they are a necessary cost of fundraising that facilitate our ability to raise millions of dollars for cancer research.
If you would like to avoid the software and credit card fees, you have the option of
making your donation by check.
Are donations tax-deductible?
All monetary donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Do all donors who mail their donations receive a receipt?
Any donor who mailed their donation and provided an address will receive a receipt via mail once the donation has been processed.
Do all donors who contribute online receive a receipt?
Yes, anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt via email.

How do I add a dedication when I make a donation?
When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant's Honor Roll. This may be your name, or it could be something such as "From the whole Wolf family" or "in memory of Aunt Cathy."
What do I get if I reach my fundraising goal?
Each participant who raises or donates $100 or more will receive a custom Massey technical shirt. For teams, each member will receive a shirt if the team average equals at least $100 raised per member.
Please note, you have the option to customize the back of your shirts.

I don't like asking people for money, how do I fundraise?
We know asking for money can be intimidating. But curing cancer takes everyone's support! Remember, 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to funding cancer research at VCU Massey Cancer Center.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help get you started:
1. Make it easy for people to donate to you by customizing your personal page.
2. Make a donation to your own goal so your donors know you're serious about your goal!
3. Share your web link on social media via our social sharing options.
4. Start early and ask everyone! You never know who your cause may affect personally like your family, friends, coworkers, clients, neighbors, classmates, doctors, dry cleaner, fitness facility... you name it! We've all been touched by cancer, ask everyone for their story!
5. Challenge yourself - set a stretch goal!
6. Be BOLD! Have fun!
7. Creativity encouraged. Host a fundraising event to help meet your goal. Ideas include: asking your favorite restaurant to donate a percentage of sales one night, ask for donations in lieu of birthday or holiday gifts, or consider a bake sale, jeans day, etc.
Does it cost money to join Team Massey?
No! Joining Team Massey is free. We do recommend donating towards your page to show your donors your personal commitment to reaching your fundraising goal.
Is there a size minimum or maximum to a team?
Nope! A team can consist of 2 or 200 people. It's up to you!
What can I do if a check is written out to me personally?
If a donation check has been written out to you personally, you may endorse the back of the check and mail it in with a completed donation form to Virginia Commonwealth University.
Can I mail in a cash donation?
It is not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. You may drop off the cash at Virginia Commonwealth University along with your information or you can deposit the cash into your checking account and send a personal check or via credit card from your personal account. You'll be able to provide recognition to the original donor during this process.

Can I enter a check online?
You can't enter a check online. What you can do is enter a check as a pledge. This can be done in the fundraising section of your headquarters page. The status of the check will be pending until the check is received by Virginia Commonwealth University.
A donor is requesting a Tax ID number; what is that and how can I get it?
A Tax ID number identifies Virginia Commonwealth University as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Many donors will request this number to validate their donation as tax-deductible. The Virginia Commonwealth University Tax ID number is .
Not all of my donors are showing up in the Honor Roll. Why?
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the Honor Roll. If your donor made a donation in error to the wrong participant or page, please
contact us.
Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?
Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select ‘My Fundraising Report on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team .
How can I send a thank you email to my donors?
To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:
- Log in to your fundraiser dashboard by clicking the "My HQ" link in the top right
- Click "My Fundraising Report" in the left sidebar
- Locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank, and click "Send Email" (If the donor didn't submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
- Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
